The compact, lush Double Knock Out Rose bloom begs to be admired. This variety is resistant to blackspot and other common rose diseases.

Interesting in fresh-cut roses? Take a pair of pruners and bring in some nice fresh roses for your get-together. They will keep blooming until the first frost.

New blooms emerge cherry red in color and then as they mature they begin to fade into a pretty pink.

Planting

Choose a location that gets 6-8 hours of sun each day. Dig a hole that is about twice as wide and as deep as the container. Place plant in the hole so that the base of the plant is level with the soil. Fill in the hole with loose soil. Water around the base of the plant. For the next few weeks, check the rose and water as needed.

Watering

Water in well when planting. Keep soil moist for the first month. Once established, allow soil to dry before watering.

Fertilizing

Fertilize after each new flush of blooms (however, you do not need to fertilize the first year). Mulch will help minimize weeds, keep the soil moist, and add essential nutrients.

Maintenance

Wait for spring! The growth of new shoots from the canes of your rose bush is a sign that it’s time to prune. This often coincides with when forsythia start to bloom. Pruning can help maintain vigor and strength as well as encourage better blooming.

Remember the rule of three! Your Knock Out® Rose bush will triple in size in a season, so cutting it back to approximately 1’ will make it finish at approximately 3’.
